Ex. Card 2

1.       Read the text and answer the questions following it.
“We shall be having a picnic tomorrow afternoon,” said Mrs. Brown. “it will be quite simple and we shan’t make any fuss. I think an afternoon in the open air will do us good.” For a whole hour we made our preparations and at last everything we needed was ready. As we were enjoying our first mouthful of soup, a stout man opened the gate and came towards us.

“Sorry to make a nuisance of myself, but in five minutes we shall have finished milking the cows,” he announced. “They’ll be coming back here directly after.”

Mrs. Brown gazed at him speechless for a moment. At last she found words.

“But you can see we’ve only just started eating,” she protested. “Surely you can put off sending them in for an hour or so?”

“Sorry ma’am, we’ve other jobs to do. We’ll give you time to clear up. That is the most that we can allow. Say twenty minutes.” Mrs. Brown seemed to collapse in her chair. “It seems to be high time we departed,” was Mr. Brown’s only remark.

Half an hour later we moved off as the cows were wandering down the lane and as the first drops of rain were falling. We joined the traffic jam in the main road. Three hours later we unpacked again and had our picnic in Mrs. Brow’s dining-room – with a carpet underfoot but still no candles. We were strangely silent but our deep sense of grievance did not in any way prevent us from eating a great deal.

Blog as an educational tool (area)

I have had my blog since the 3rd grade, so I have been running it for many years. I update my blog quite often because I enjoy adding new materials, editing my posts, and improving its design. I am very skilled at using my blog and can do almost everything there. For example, I can insert tables, write fractions, change the color and size of the letters, and change the background of the text. I can also add pictures, multiple images, audio files, archives, and even a calendar. In addition, I can completely change the design of my blog. I can put a background image on the page, change the style of the blog, add categories, write an “About Me” section, insert links, add new materials, and edit anything I want. Using a blog as an educational tool has many advantages. First, it allows students to express their thoughts creatively. It develops writing skills and makes learning more interesting. Blogs also help organize work, share information, and communicate with others. Besides, various types of media—pictures, audio recordings, videos—can be included in a blog, which makes learning more diverse. Of course, there are some disadvantages as well. Not everyone has equal access to the internet, and for some students, maintaining a blog can be difficult. In addition, a blog requires time and responsibility. Nevertheless, blogging has been a very positive and useful experience for me. It helps me learn, create, and share my ideas.
